DERRY GIRLS star Siobhan McSweeney explores Northern Ireland in a new television series. McSweeney, who is from Cork had never set foot in Northern Ireland before filming the hit comedy show but soon fell in love with the beautiful landscape.
Irish actress Charlene McKenna has bid farewell to the PEAKY BLINDERS ‘family’ after she finished filming the sixth season of the gangster series. Monaghan woman Charlene made a brief appearance on the fifth season of Peaky Blinders, taking on the role of IRA leader Captain Swing.
A new PBS travel series hosted by Emmy-nominated Irish tenor Michael Londra will feature the island of Ireland and its music. The new six-part series IRELAND WITH MICHAEL premieres on PBS this month. Set amid stunning Irish scenery, the series will tell the story of Ireland through the eyes and hearts of its greatest assets – its creators, painters, singers, dancers and storytellers.
Holy F***, starring FATHER TED’s Ardal O’Hanlon, examines the relationship Irish people have with swearing. Among those appearing in the upcoming show are none other than Ardal’s friend, comedian Tommy Tiernan, as well as Irish rock legend Bob Geldof. Holy F*** will air from 9.30pm on RTE One this Sunday.

The GREAT FAMINE VOICES ROADSHOW is returning with what producers describe as “a brand new series of standalone short films and online discussions beginning with Black Abolitionists in Ireland”. The first program, airing Sunday May 2, features a short film and online discussion and focuses on the story of Sarah Remond’s visit to Ireland in 1859 to win support for anti-slavery, even as her own country was hurtling towards a bloody civil war.
A new documentary, which includes an expedition by a group of Irish explorers on a special research mission to Iceland, received it’s premiere on RTÉ One this past weekend. Filmed by filmmaker Tony Whelan, the film is about a group of Irish whales and dolphins traveling to Iceland in May 2018 on a unique research expedition.
