Teenage actress Alisha Weir has spoken about the duality of playing a “sweet, innocent girl” who is also a bloodthirsty vampire in her new horror film ABIGAIL. The Dublin-born actress, best known for her starring role in the big screen version of Matilda The Musical, plays the 12-year daughter of a powerful underworld figure who is kidnapped by a group of would-be criminals. Irish actress Alisha Weir has shared a terrifying trailer for her forthcoming movie, ABIGAIL. The 14-year-old from Dublin shot to fame in the title role of the 2022 hit film, MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Due to be released April 19, distributor Universal Pictures describes the movie as ‘a brash, blood-thirsty new vision of the vampire flick’. The cast also includes DOWNTON ABBEY star Dan Stevens, BREAKING BAD‘s Giancarlo Esposito and late Irish-American actor Angus Cloud, who passed away in July 2023 at the age of 25. The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who helmed the two most recent SCREAM movies that revitalised the horror franchise.
Alisha Weir has been cast opposite Emma Thomson in MATILDA, which has been purchased by Netflix. Alisha previously shot to fame when she wowed the Late Late Toy Show audience in 2017 when she fronted a choir which sang a cover of Cindy Lauper’s True Colours.
