BELFAST star Ciaran Hinds has been cast in a recurring role in THE RINGS OF POWER. Hinds is a GAME OF THRONES alum joining the fold, having been nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2022 for his performance in BELFAST alongside OUTLANDER‘S Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, and Judi Dench.
Belfast-born Ciaran Hinds plays Sir Martin Angelis in TREASON, now on Netflix. The drama follows Adam Lawrence, trained and groomed by MI6, whose career seems set. But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life.
Written by David Coggeshall, THE FAMILY PLAN tells the story of a suburban dad who must take his family on the run when his past catches up with him. Hinds is coming off his Oscar-nominated performance in Kenneth Branagh’s BELFAST. The film also stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan. Simon Cellan Jones, who recently collaborated with Wahlberg on ARTHUR THE KING, will direct.
A veteran stage and screen actor who has been working onscreen since 1977, Hinds has appeared in more than 60 films, including Road to PERDITION, MUNICH, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, TINKER TAILER SOLDIER SPY, and the final HARRY POTTER film, among others. But it was the role of the sweet and sage grandfather in Branagh’s semi-autobiographical film that brought him the closest he’s been to his home, BELFAST, in a long time.
The actors grew up in the same city on opposite sides of the Troubles. Here, they reflect on revisiting their past in BELFAST, Branagh’s acclaimed, highly personal new film. Branagh was from working-class Protestant stock, while Hinds was a 16-year-old former altar boy from a Catholic family, whose school was close to the Branagh house.
Acclaimed Irish actors Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds are teaming up for the first time in a new thriller film which is expected to begin production next year. Entitled IN THE LAND OF SAINTS & SINNERS, Neeson will play a “newly retired assassin”, who, you guessed it, gets dragged back into the job he so desperately wants to leave behind.
