Colm Meaney in BEDBOUND
This summer Colm Meaney and Brenda Meaney star in a major new revival of Enda Walsh’s savagely funny play, BEDBOUND – on stage in Galway and Dublin in July and August. Colm Meaney – whose recent stage performances include CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF in the West End and THE ICEMAN COMETH on Broadway – returns to the Irish stage for the first time in over 40 years, to play the once-flamboyant furniture salesman. Brenda Meaney plays his daughter, confined to a small bed.
IN THE LAND OF SAINTS AND SINNERS
Irish acting legend Colm Meaney opened up recently about his upcoming movie IN THE LAND OF SAINTS AND SINNERS which could be described as “an Irish Avengers”. This is down to the level of talent involved with the thriller, which stars Liam Neeson as a newly-retired assassin in a remote Irish village who finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists. The thriller is set for a 2023 release.
Meaney in THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE
Colm Meaney is set to star in indie pic THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE. The film is a heart-warming comedy about two estranged cousins making amends for many generations of a family dispute. The story follows Ciáran (Meaney), who lives in rural Ireland with his elderly and ailing father who, bemoaning the sorry state of the world and its never-ending conflicts, decides that if he can’t fix the world’s problems, he can at least try to fix his family. As his dying wish, he asks his son to reach out to the American side of the family and make peace.
Meaney wraps NO WAY UP
Principal photography has wrapped on the female-driven survival thriller NO WAY UP, with Colm Meaney taking over the role originally to have been played by Kelsey Grammer, who departed the production due to scheduling conflicts. In the film from director Claudio Fäh (Northmen – A Viking Saga), an airliner crashes into the Pacific Ocean and comes to rest perilously close to the edge of a deep ravine, leaving the surviving passengers and crew trapped in an air pocket. With their air supply rapidly running out, a nightmare fight for survival ensues as dangers from all sides hone-in on them.
Meaney on STAR TREK
Dublin-born Colm Meaney is one of the most prolific character actors working in Hollywood with 211 episodes of STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE under his belt. Last year Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION told The Big Issue she’d most like to see a Star Trek series based around Worf. But would Meaney for it?
