Belfast-born film director Ross White has said he is “excited” to unveil his and co-director Tom Berkeley’s follow-up to their Oscar-winning short AN IRISH GOODBYE, as the first trailer for the next and final short project, THE GOLDEN WEST is released. The short film’s plot, which was previously kept under wraps until now will follow two warring Irish sisters in 1849 having fled the Irish Famine, searching for gold in the mountains of north Wales. But with winter approaching and nothing to show for their efforts, their age-old feud soon threatens to become deadly.

Caitriona Balfe on OUTLANDER

Caitriona Balfe is having a hard time saying goodbye to OUTLANDER. In a conversation with RTÉ Entertainment the BELFAST actor said, “It’s going to be very sad, very bittersweet. It’s had an amazing run and it will be more than a decade by the time it’s finished, which is an incredible length of time to spend as a character on a show and I will be bereft of spending that time with Claire.”

Derek Thompson to exit CASUALTY

Casualty

CASUALTY’s longest-serving cast member Derek Thompson will leave the soap after almost four decades playing Charlie Fairhead, the BBC has announced. The 75-year-old said “the time has come for me to hang up Charlie’s scrubs after the most wonderful 37 years” starring in nearly 900 episodes of the much-loved TV programme. The BBC said Thompson will be filming until autumn, with his final scenes airing next year in the “culmination of a gripping exit storyline which will see the character front and centre of the action”.

A remake of the 2015 Spanish thriller EL DESCONOCIDO, RETRIBUTION revolves around a banker who gets into his car with his kids and learns that the car has been rigged with bombs that will explode if anyone leaves their seat or the car is stopped. The mysterious assailant, who calls the banker on a phone he left in the car, will deactivate the bombs if he transfers a large sum of money into his account.
