Gabriel Byrne on stage

Following a sold out run in Dublin, Gabriel Byrne makes his West End debut in an acclaimed solo show adapted from his best-selling memoir, and directed by three-time Emmy award-winner Lonny Price. Moving between childhood memories of an Ireland that has almost vanished, to a commentary on Hollywood and Broadway stardom, Walking with Ghosts is by turns hilarious and heartbreaking, and a lyrical homage to the people and landscapes that ultimately shape our destinies.

Gabriel Byrne on being Irish

Irish actor Gabriel Byrne discusses the stage adaptation of his memoir Walking With Ghosts, playing Samuel Beckett in a new film – and making peace with being an exile. In his new memoir, Byrne has a surfeit of funny, as well as surreal, and sometimes painfully self-revealing stories, not just about the films that have made his name (Excalibur, Defence of the Realm, Miller’s Crossing, The Usual Suspects) and the stars he has worked with, from Richard Burton to Leonardo DiCaprio, but also his eventful life before he became an actor.

Irish actors Gabriel Byrne and Aidan Gillen have joined the cast of the upcoming Samuel Beckett biopic, DANCE FIRST. Titled after Beckett’s famous adage “Dance first, think later,” the film is a sweeping account of the Nobel Prize-winning playwright’s life. The film is a playful and often poignant exploration of the life of the literature icon, delving deep into the key relationships in Beckett’s life — mainly the two women he was close to. The film is expected to begin shooting in Budapest on May 30.
