Norton in LAST ONE LAUGHING IRELAND
QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE Season Two
The second series of QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE, the drag queen singing competition hosted by Graham Norton, has something unspoken about it: it is like a show about something else, camouflaged as classic, competition-format reality TV. The contestants are all so nice to one another, so supportive; Norton is so nice; the judges are all so nice. Take the niceness of BAKE OFF and multiply it by a thousand, and you are still nowhere close to how much the contestants are rooting for one another, even though they would all clearly appreciate the $250,000 prize for themselves. Season two is available to stream now on Paramount+.
LOL: LAST ONE LAUGHING IRELAND
Graham Norton is set to work in Ireland for the first time in many years, while also returning to his stand-up comedy roots as the new presenter for Prime Video’s first Irish original series, LOL: LAST ONE LAUGHING IRELAND. The Bandon native and award-winning BBC chat show host is also the author of four novels, and regularly spends his summer months at his home in Ahakista, having married Scottish film-maker Jonothan McLeod at Bantry House last summer. The six-part comedy format will be filmed this spring in Dublin and will launch exclusively on Prime Video worldwide next year.
Norton to host Eurovision 2023
Beloved Cork TV personality and author Graham Norton will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, it has been confirmed. The BBC announced the full presenting team on Wednesday, with Norton set to be joined on stage by singer Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina. Comedian and former Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc will also be on hand to assist, with commentary provided by Scott Mills and Rylan.
Graham Norton’s HOLDING
HOLDING, a new 4-part tv show based on the book by chat-show host Graham Norton, airs this week. Human remains are discovered in a small, quiet village in West Cork, Ireland, while local builders are demolishing a farmhouse that belonged to the Burke family. It seems that the villagers – including the fiancee jilted at the altar by Tommy, the son of the house, as well as the woman he was seeing on the side – now have an answer as to how, if not precisely why, he disappeared on his wedding eve 20 years ago.
