Aidan O’Callaghan in THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN

Ballincollig native Aidan O’Callaghan is set to play Kareg in the four-episode spin-off. The 34-year-old made his first on-screen debut in 2014 in KILL DAY, a post-apocalyptic TV series set in 2050’s Britain. But Aidan has been well acclaimed for his role in the English TV show EASTENDERS, where he played the antagonistic barman, Lewis Butler earlier this year.

Laura Donnelly in WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

A Belfast-born actress who stars in the HBO science fiction drama THE NEVERS has revealed she would love to return to the city’s Lyric Theatre. Laura Donnelly was speaking ahead of the release of WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, a TV special based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and the first Marvel Halloween special on Disney+.

HOLE IN THE HEAD review

Greystones filmmaker Dean Kavanagh made his cinema debut with his first narrative feature, HOLE IN THE HEAD, at the Irish Film Institute on Friday, August 12. The experimental director used the ongoing pandemic and repeated lockdowns of years past to both create and film his piece, using the natural landscape of Wicklow as one of many backdrops to his story.

IT IS IN US ALL in cinemas Sept 23

IT IS IN US ALL, the directorial debut from Irish filmmaker Antonia Campbell-Hughes will open in Irish cinemas on 23rd September. The feature drama which was filmed on location in Donegal stars Cosmo Jarvis (CALM WITH HORSES) and Claes Bang (THE NORTHMAN). Speaking about its cinema release, Antonia who wrote and directed the film said “I want people to feel magic. This can come in the form of discomfort, fear, recognition… It is to awaken a sensation that has been absent or is unrecognisable.”

YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER trailer

Magnolia Pictures has revealed a new official US trailer for the Irish indie horror film titled YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER, marking the feature debut of filmmaker Kate Dolan. This premiered at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival last year, and recently played at the Gothenburg Film Festival. In a North Dublin housing estate Char’s mum mysteriously goes missing.

WOLF trailer revealed

A trailer for the new feature film WOLF, which was filmed in Ireland and is a co-production with Poland, has landed online. The film follows Jacob, played by 1917 star George MacKay, who believes he’s a wolf trapped in a man’s body. The cast also includes such Irish stars as Martin McCann, Eileen Walsh, and DATING AMBER stars Fionn O’Shea and Lola Petticrew.
