RTÉ television turned 60 on New Year’s Eve, and RTÉ is marking the occasion with a special photographic exhibition at the National Photographic Archive in Dublin. Ireland on the Box explores six decades of television in Ireland, through entertainment, drama, sport, music, education and news and current affairs programming. Curated by RTÉ Archives, and supported by the National Library of Ireland, the exhibition tells the story of a nation through the television it consumed.
Paying homage to the literature, scenery and music that has shaped Irish culture, the new series VOICES OF IRELAND will take us on a tour of the island of Ireland, where Imelda may will be joined by Ireland’s most illustrious, contemporary creatives; singers, musicians, spoken word poets, actors and writers.
A new PBS travel series hosted by Emmy-nominated Irish tenor Michael Londra will feature the island of Ireland and its music. The new six-part series IRELAND WITH MICHAEL premieres on PBS this month. Set amid stunning Irish scenery, the series will tell the story of Ireland through the eyes and hearts of its greatest assets – its creators, painters, singers, dancers and storytellers.
