Saoirse Ronan (THE OUTRUN) is rumored to have joined the cast of Greta Gerwig‘s THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA film from Netflix. According to the report, Ronan’s role will be a supporting one. Filming has yet to begin, and no official cast details have been revealed so far. Ronan previously worked with Gerwig on LADY BIRD and LITTLE WOMEN, and the NARNIA movie marks their third collaboration.

Sony Pictures Classics has picked up Saoirse Ronan’s addiction drama THE OUTRUN for a fall theatrical release. Director Nora Fingscheidt’s film, which stars Ronan as a young Scottish woman from the Orkney Islands who repeatedly plumbs rock bottom before finally resolving to control her alcohol addiction, will be released by StudioCanal in the U.K. and Ireland on Sep. 27. The project reunites Sony Pictures Classics with Ronan, who starred in the 2018 film adaption of THE SEAGULL.

Based on Amy Liptrot’s best-selling memoir and directed by Nora Fingscheidt, the movie stars Saoirse Ronan (FOE) and Paapa Essiedu, a life-changing escape into the wilds of Orkney. The Oscar nominee gives one of her greatest performances as a young woman grappling with addiction in a moving and delicate adaptation of Liptrot’s memoir.
