The film, starring Saoirse Ronan (THE OUTRUN), examines terrors that London underwent during the second world war. McQueen said, “BLITZ is a movie about Lon­doners. It honours the spirit of what and how Londoners endured during the blitz, but also explores the true representation of people in London. At its core is the story of a working-class family desperate to be reunited.”

FOE star Saoirse Ronan has opened up about how playing an alcoholic in Nora Fingscheidt’s THE OUTRUN had a profound effect on her. The Little Women actor, 30, stars in the adaptation of Scottish journalist Amy Liptrot’s award-winning memoir, which tells the story of a young woman, Rona, who returns to her rural family home in Orkney after struggling with addiction while living in London. THE OUTRUN is slated for release in the UK on 27 September.

Steve McQueen‘s BLITZ, starring Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson, will premiere in select cinemas Nov 1, prior to streaming globally on Apple TV+ on Nov 22. The film stars Saoirse Ronan as Rita, the mother of nine-year-old George (Elliott Heffernan), who sends him to safety in the countryside. But the evacuee is determined to return and travels solo home, while his distraught relatives search for him in the city.

THE OUTRUN release date

Sony Pictures Classics has picked up Saoirse Ronan’s addiction drama THE OUTRUN for a fall theatrical release. Director Nora Fingscheidt’s film, which stars Ronan as a young Scottish woman from the Orkney Islands who repeatedly plumbs rock bottom before finally resolving to control her alcohol addiction, will be released by StudioCanal in the U.K. and Ireland on Sep. 27. The project reunites Sony Pictures Classics with Ronan, who starred in the 2018 film adaption of THE SEAGULL.

FOE star Saoirse Ronan’s next film THE OUTRUN will hit Irish theatres on September 27. According to The Hollywood Reporter Saoirse’s character will be named Rona and the plot will follow her journey as she finishes rehab and heads to Scotland’s wild Orkney Islands for the first time in a decade. While Rona attempts to reconnect with her childhood, she revisits the landscape in which she grew up and along the way, discovers memories that ” merge with the more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.”

She’ll play a teacher dealing with a very disruptive student in a new satirical pic BAD APPLES that marks the English-language debut of Swedish writer/director Jonatan Etzler. The plan is to shoot the movie this coming spring. Ronan, meanwhile, will next be seen in Steve McQueen’s BLITZ and addiction drama THE OUTRUN.
